Supporting the Sakhalyuk Family: A Home Full of Love, Despite the Struggles

At Ukraine Power, we support families across Ukraine who are facing extraordinary challenges — families doing everything they can to care for their loved ones with limited resources and little outside help.

One such family is the Sakhalyuks. They live in a very modest home in western Ukraine — two small rooms and a tiny kitchen — where both parents provide full-time care for their three children: Anastasiia, Mariia, and Artem.

A Family Giving Everything for Each Other

Two of the children live with serious health conditions and require constant care and support. This has shaped every part of the family’s daily life. Their parents have had to step away from work to become full-time caregivers — managing not only medical needs but also basic things like food, warmth, and learning.

The war in Ukraine has made these struggles even harder. Ongoing power outages, rising prices, and limited access to services have created extra challenges for families already under stress. Yet the Sakhalyuks continue to hold on — focused on staying together and doing their best every day.

What the Family Needed Most

In a written request on the family’s behalf, it was shared that they were living in difficult conditions and in need of several basic items. They asked for a laptop for Mariia, who had been doing her schoolwork using only an old phone, a portable power station to help care for Anastasiia during electricity outages, and a television to bring some comfort into their shared space.

Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to fulfill this request — a small change that brought much-needed relief to the family.

A Message That Touched Our Hearts

After receiving the support, the family sent us a powerful thank-you letter. In it, they wrote:

“At a time when it seemed all doors were closing, you became our light, our support, our kind angel. You didn’t just help — you gave us hope.”

They shared how their daughter felt less alone, how their son smiled again, and how Mariia finally had what she needed for school.

They ended their letter with heartfelt words:

“May the love you bring to others always warm your path.”

As the war continues to affect families across Ukraine, we remain committed to offering real, practical help to those who need it most. Thank you for standing with us — and with them.
