In April 2022, the Kyryliuk family — parents with four young children — was forced to leave their home in Mar’inka as war engulfed their city. Explosions, evacuation sirens, and fear for their children’s lives left deep scars. With tears in their eyes, they left behind everything familiar, not knowing if they would ever return.
They now live in a small village in Vinnytsia region — a place of safety, but not of comfort. The house they rent is old and deteriorating. The walls are crumbling, the furniture is worn, and there is no running water. To provide for the family, the parents carry water from a well several houses away — all while caring for a six-month-old baby and three other children.
Despite these conditions, the family does all they can with what they have. The parents have painted the walls, repaired old furniture, and begun preparing a plot of land to grow food. But their limited resources are quickly exhausted, and every day remains a test of endurance.
Their refrigerator had stopped working, making food storage unsafe — especially dangerous with small children. Their two school-age daughters had to share one outdated laptop, which disrupted their learning and caused additional stress for the entire family. There was no washing machine. No proper appliances to cook meals. And no equipment to help them work the land.
When They Reached Out
The Kyryliuks reached out to Ukraine Power with a heartfelt request — not for comfort, but for the basics their family needed.
