The war in Ukraine has left many families facing sudden and life-changing circumstances. For some, these changes arrive quietly but reshape everyday life in lasting ways.
This family consists of two sisters, aged 11 and 26. Their mother passed away recently. She was the foundation of their family and their main source of care and stability. After her death, the older sister became the legal guardian of her younger sibling, taking full responsibility for her care, education, and daily needs. For both sisters, this marked a clear divide between life before and life after.
The sisters live in a rented apartment and do not own a home. The older sister works full-time and is the sole provider for the family. Despite her efforts, her income covers only basic expenses, leaving the family in a fragile financial situation. The responsibility she carries came suddenly, and both sisters were forced to grow up faster than expected.
The younger sister is a fifth-grade student. After the recent loss, she struggled to maintain a regular school routine. Emotional stress and unstable living conditions made concentration and consistency difficult during an already challenging period.
Their living conditions added further strain. The apartment lacked essential household appliances, and the family did not have the necessary equipment to support the child’s education at home. Daily life required constant effort at a time when emotional resources were already limited.
Ukraine Power provided practical humanitarian assistance to help address these immediate challenges. The support focused on improving basic living conditions and ensuring the child had the tools needed to continue her education in a more stable environment.
As a result, several urgent needs were met, easing daily pressure on the family and allowing both sisters to focus on adjusting to their new circumstances and supporting one another.
This assistance was made possible thanks to the generosity of Ukraine Power donors. Your support helped provide stability during a very difficult moment for this family.
